摘要:Foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs) are pivotal in shaping the industrial landscape of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration in China. This study explores the statistical and visual characteristics of FIEs using data on FIEs that invested by nine investor countries spanning 2001 to 2021. The results reveal a 'core-periphery' hierarchical structure within FIEs, and an initial polarization followed by diffusion in the spatial distribution of FIEs. Furthermore, the spatial panel Durbin model shows spatial spillover effects of FIEs on the industrial structure from 2012 to 2021. We discuss the theoretical implications, practical implications, limitations and suggestions for future research.
