In the final year of my university, I was so lucky to become the first batch of students who achieved CIBC scholarship to be exchanged to HEC Montreal. With high expectation and curiosity, I started my study and living journey in Canada.

HEC Montreal is a French School where a majority of courses are taught in French while others are taught by English and Spanish. As a student knowing nothing about French, I finically chose four courses taught in English, including financial statement analysis, management skills, information technology in organization and marketing communication. My favorite course among those are management skills because its innovative teaching method. During the course, classroom was pretended to be the boarding room, our professor was the president, and student was department director. Therefore, we always had impromptus speech to convince our colleagues, solved out the common but important issues or learnt to make influence in institutions and so on. Professor Nadine left a really deep impression on me. She was very charming and energetic in the classroom so all the students took an active part in the classroom. Aside from learning theoretical knowledge in management, we also understand how to deal with problems in realistic world by experimental learning. My presentation skills improved a lot by practicing a lot and receiving feedback from all classmates since this course really focus on cultivating this ability of students. In the final presentation, I did a great job which with my three other friends from Nan Yang Technology school to present a topic about how to be a good leader. Every audience impressed by our presentation since we adopted a popular game to show our ideas. I think this is the charming of innovation and creation.

Except for studying, feeling local life is my second reason to come to Canada. Students from international department in HEC Montreal held lots of activities and provided many opportunities for international students to communicate with each other and learn from each other. For example, in the first welcome week, international students were guided by the local students to travel around the city of Montreal and enjoyed many special and local activities. In the following weeks, they would also hold many parties and travelling in North America so that international students could have more fun in Canada and meet more new friends. I also had many new friends and experienced many new places in Canada during vocation, such as Vancouver, Toronto and so on.

In all, this is a worthy and interesting international experience in my life, which not only taught me some North American culture of studying and living, but also achieved many friendships.
