(Yufu-Go! Amazing Race)
As for the competition itself, it includes a 5-hour short case resolution and a 24-hour long case presentation. In short case study, participants were required to submit a 10-slide PPT report with a solution within 5 hours. In the 24-hour case study, each team was supposed to do a presentation and QA in front of the Audi executives for 15 minutes after completing the report with solutions within 24 hours.
In the short case study, although time is very limited, the Shantou University students reasonably arranged time by sticking to their time arrangement which was made before the case was released, and thus they successfully submitted the report on time.
The results of the first round (short case study) directly determined the second round (long case study) group allocation, in other words, it decided
which groups would compete together within a league for the chance of entering the final round. Our Shantou University team was finally divided into a league with the other two teams from University of California, Berkeley and Keio University. However, unfortunately, in the long case study, Shantou University team did not qualify for entering the finals while the team from UC Berkeley did. To this end, the team members carefully analyzed their work and other winning teams report in the whole competition to figure out what they were supposed to do better and humbly learn from the others so as to make progress in the future.
As for Shantou University students, this competition was a valuable opportunity for enriching experience and harvesting friendship. It has developed the team members team spirit, making them understand the importance of time arrangement in business, and social ability which did broaden the students’ international horizon. Although the competition merely lasted seven days, this memorable experience will be borne in student’s mind, to help them have a much brighter future in their life!
