【About the CoMIS】
CoMIS Case Competition is held by famous university, Carlson School of Management, Minnesota University. As the case competition about professional Management Information System, CoMIS aims to provide university students with a MIS platform, cultivate creative ability and widen students’ horizons. This competition attracted 19 international teams from America, Canada, Hungary, Thailand, HongKong and so on. Our students, Lin Xiaoting (2015 Business Administration), Li Jiayi (2015 Business Administration), Liu Yunying (2015 Accounting) represented Shantou University and took part in it.
【About the Company Visit】
Before the case day, all teams were invited to visit three powerful company located in Minnesota, 3M, Metronic, Optum. During the company visit, we enjoyed the introductions delivered by senior managers and learnt more about products from these companies, which leads to better understanding about MIS and high-tech in business.
【About the Case Competition】
This competition focuses on the Internet of Things in University of Minnesota. Even if most of competitors are majored in MIS, we dealt with problems through teamwork and received agreement and sincere feedback from judges. Although we couldn’t get into the final round, we solved out the problems and showed ability of STU.
【About the Social Activities】
During the competition, STU team participated in the welcoming banquet that held by the organizers and visited the enterprises which sponsored the competition actively. STU’s students had close interaction with the other participants, teachers and the sponsors, and showed the enthusiasm to them through variety of social activities, which also forged international friendship.
【Our Feelings】
First of all, we are very grateful to the Li Ka-Shing Foundation, STU Business School to offer us this valuable opportunity to participate in the competition, thanks for the guidance of Professor King Wu and other people who gave us strong support. This case competition not only cultivates our team spirit, but also develops our international horizons. What’s more, it gives us a chance to realize the importance of technology innovation and management innovation to companies. This competition is a new start for us, and we will try our best to become more excellent university students and go further with the courage and confidence.
