The comparative study of entrepreneurship and innovation activities in Chao-Shan and Israel conference was hold successfully between Shantou University and Technicon by Shantou University business school during Dec. 18th-20th, ,2015.
The conference invited well-known domestic and foreign scholars from Israel institute of technology, the University of Victoria, Tsinghua university, Renmin university of China and other local entrepreneurs and guests. The conference focus on the entrepreneurship and innovation activities in Chao-Shan and Israel and lay the foundation for future development for both Chaoshan and Israel.
The opening ceremony was held at the evening of Dec.18th while the conference took place during Dec. 19th and 20th.
President and Professor Paul Feigin from Technion presented his focus on “Innovation Entrepreneurship” and great wishes on further cooperation with STU. STU Provost, Prof. Gu Peihua emphasized the success of Guangdong Israel Institute of Technology’s launching ceremony, and mentioned that this cross-culture communication would start from Business School. High expectation and great wishes were presented by every participant in the opening ceremony.
On Dec.19th, Professor Yehuda Assaraf from Technicon Biology School gave an inspiring lecture of “The importance of serendipity in scientific discoveries”, followed by Professor Miriam Erez, whose focus on “Culture and Innovation: How the National Culture Shapes Innovation – A Comparison of China and Israel.” Furthermore, Prof. Shlomo Maital and his panel of researchers from Business School of Shantou University had presented the Case Studies of Taobao Villages, including four parts: Professor Dennis Lee with “Junpu Taobao Village, Validating Porter’s Diamond Model”, Professor Lin Jiali with “Evolution of Institutional Entrepreneurship: A Case Study of Taobao Village in Jieyang”, Professor John, Liang Qiang with “Why Nesting doesn’t Ground? Multi-relational Embeddness and Entrepreneurial Cluster Stagnation: Longitudinal Case Study on Junpu Taobao Village in China”,which then summarized by Prof. Shlomo Maital with “Open, Sesame! The story of Alibaba and Taobao – Insights for building start-ups into global market leaders”.
Dr. Wang Yabo, the Vice President of Dynavolt Tech delivered an amazing speech on “Dynavolt Tech-Innovation and Win” in the afternoon, open a technique discussed topic: “Paradox of Innovation” in the afternoon. Prof. Ella Miron-Spektor’s topic was: “On the paradox of innovation: from either novelty or usefulness to both novelty and usefulness.” and, Prof. Anat Rafaeli: “ Israeli Innovations and Findings on Emotions in Customer Service.”
The third discussion theme was “Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Chaoshan”. Prof. Sunanda Sangwan, Dr. Song Lihong with Dr.Linda Shi Hui, Prof. Xie Shunlong with Huang Zhoupin presented their unique valuable scientific discoveries and results.
On Dec.20th, the conference turned its spotlight to “Innovation Education in Israel”, Prof. Shlomo Maital, Ronit Lis Hacohen and Mr. Lin Kunjin, together with Prof. Avishai Mandelbaum delivered their opinions on education, bringing a hot topic to all the scholars. Valuable suggestions were raised during the conference.
The Summary and Remarks was made by Prof. Lu Yuan, Dean of Shantou University Business School, who expressed his satisfaction towards this conference and expectation of further cooperation with participant schools and companies.
At the end of the conference, scholars visited Hui Qun Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd (a Chinese medicine company) and share experiences with the managers.
