Business School Held the ABBS Biennial Conference: Management Education Forum
The ABBS Biennial Conference: Management Education Forum was held at the Academic Conference Centre on 24th March. Organized by STU Business School, the 2-day conference was attended by over 50 representatives from the BRICS (abbreviation for the initials of the 5 emerging economies) countries.
In the opening ceremony, Professor Lin Danming, Vice President of the university, delivered the welcome speech. Professor Philip and Professor Xu Erming, chairman and vice chairman of the ABBS, spoke to introduce the background and objectives of the conference, as well as the prospects for the organization’s development. Mr Yu Jinfu, associate mayor of Shantou, spoke on behalf of the conference's organizer, pointed out that international academic exchange is crucial to the development of management education in the region. He also addressed the importance of internationalizing education so as to benefit the development of local industries.
In his keynote speech, Professor Lu Yuan from Hong Kong Chinese University shared his opinions in forming strategies and methods for cultivating MBA students in the context of globalised economy. Professor Philip from XIME, on the other hand, introduced the concepts and experiences in management education from an Indian perspective.
In the discussion session, attendees exchanged ideas on the issues encountered in management education in each country as well as the feasible corresponding solutions. Following the conclusion of the conference, Professor Xu Erming was elected Chairman of the board of ABBS by board members.
On the final day of the event, the delegates were taken for a exhibitional tour of a local toy manufacturer.
'The Conference will undoubtedly further enhance communication and collaboration among AABS member institutions', said some of the conference attendees.
