The first Asian Forum for PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) was held on 4th and 5th November at Kyung Hee University in Seoul, South Korea. Many business schools in the region, as well as some organizations such as the Korean branch of UN Global Compact, AAPBS and delegates from a number of well-known enterprises attended the forum. Associate Professor Xie Wenli from STU Business School was also invited. Mr Ban Ki Moon, UN Secretary General, addressed in the opening ceremony via video.
The theme of the forum was Responsible Management Education, Social Responsibility and the future role of Asian Business Schools. Attended schools and organizations shared their experiences in PRME. Discussions were focused on issues regarding feasible strategies in coping with the sustainable development of global economy, as well as the significance of international accreditation to the development of Asian Business Schools.
Professor Xie exchanged thoughts and discussed with some delegates the possible realms and forms by which the respective schools may cooperate in the future.
UN PRME was established during the summit of 2007 UN Global Compact, which endeavors to provide a framework that can promote sense of social responsibility in enterprises while attempts to inject universal values into academic researches and the relevant activities. There are currently more 320 institutes from over 60 countries participated in the program. STU Business School is one of the 8 Chinese (HKSAR included) members.
