From November 29th to December 5th , 2015, Australian Undergraduate Business Case Competition(AUBCC) was hosted ceremoniously by the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. Bu Jiaying, Guo Shumei and Chen Yonglin who major in Finance and Lei Siyuan who majors in Accounting, formed a team Advancer Consulting, representing Shantou University Business School, to compete with other 15 top teams from business schools in the United States, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Thailand and the Netherlands.
During the five days of competitions and activities, our Advancer Consulting team earned a good mark in social performance, teamwork and English expression ability by the judges. Our students conducted extensive in-depth communications with the judges, and shared experience with the participant teams. And they were very happy to receive souvenirs which are full of Shantou University Business School features. Through the competition, our Advancer Consulting Team obtained the constructive suggestions and valuable experience in the case analysis and program development. We hope that this valuable experience can help Business School students go further in the future international case competitions.
【About the competition】
The competition lasted for six days, including activities and competitions that were organized by a group of students from different grades in the University of New South Wales. AUBCC 2015 implemented the integral system, including three rounds. 16 teams were divided into four groups by drawing lots and the teams who got highest scores in each group could compete in the final game. Our Advancer Consulting Team competed with University of Alberta, Canada, University of British Columbia, Canada and Queens University in the first round. In the second round, our students met the Queensland University of technology, University of New South Wales, Australia and Concordia University, Canada. As for the third one, our team were in the same group with the University of Florida, National University of Singapore and the Netherlands Maastricht University. Although Advancer Consulting Team won the praise of judges for its performance, but ultimately they unfortunately missed the semi-finals competition. After fierce competition, the National University of Singapore won the championship. The University of Melbourne, Australia won the runner-up and Queen's University, Canada was second runner-up.
【Social events】
The organizers of AUBCC 2015, provided interesting and abundant opportunities for all competitors, so that participants could communicate with each other and broaden their horizons in those activities. Organizers arranged a variety of social activities, including cocktail parties, self-introduction, visiting famous scenic spots in Sydney and so on. In the process of participating in these activities, our Advancer Consulting Team actively exchanged ideas with other participants, showing the spirit of the business school of Shantou University.
