From November 15th to 17th, 2023, AMBA & BGA Asia Pacific Conference was held in Bangkok, Thailand. More than 100 representatives from over 60 business schools in the Asia-Pacific region attended the conference to discuss important matters that will affect the development of business schools in the Asia-Pacific region over the next five years. Guo Gongxing, Vice Dean of the School of Business at Shantou University, attended the conference on behalf of our school.
The conference featured 16 sub-forums, mainly focusing on topics such as "innovative practices in digitization and artificial intelligence", "lifelong learning programs and alumni career development", "sustainable entrepreneurship and leadership development", "building industry partnerships and business school ecosystem capabilities" and "responsible management and sustainable development of business courses."
Deans from several business schools in the Asia-Pacific region shared their forward-looking practices and typical experiences in MBA and undergraduate education. Wilert Puriwat, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy at Chulalongkorn University, introduced the school's transformation from a "business school" to a "real business in the school". Pipop Udorn, Vice President of Thammasat University, shared the school's philosophy and practice of action learning in community service. In addition, deans from business schools such as the University of Canterbury in New Zealand and Nagoya University of Commerce and Business in Japan, as well as enterprise representatives from Toyota and Accredify, discussed internationalization, experiential learning, multidisciplinary, and digitization trends in the future development of business schools.
Andrew Main Wilson, President of AMBA & BGA, invited attendees to participate in the AMBA & BGA Gala Dinner. Our school's "Rural Revitalization Program" was nominated for the Best CSR and Sustainability Initiative 2024 award and made it to the final list of the 2024 AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards. The results will be announced in early 2024 in London, UK.
During the three-day conference, Vice Dean Guo Gongxing had face-to-face exchanges with the president of AMBA & BGA, accreditation experts, and deans from various business schools in the Asia-Pacific region. He gained a deep understanding of the latest standards for BGA accreditation and new trends in global business school development. He also gained rich experience to lay a good foundation for our school to respond to regional sustainable development requirements, practice alliance cooperation, and achieve high-quality internationalization strategic goals.
