On behalf of our business school, Pedal Yang(11 Finance) and Huanxia Huang(12 Business Administration) attended CommTECH 2014, the 10-day culture tour in Indonesia. 55 people who are from 18 countries such as Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, UK, Korea, etc and a bunch of local volunteers are involved. Our representatives encountered impressive Indonesian culture such as traditional Batik culture, Bahasa Indonesian, traditional Indonesian games, summer dance, the instrument of angkung, etc. They also traveled in Surabaya, the second largest city in Indonesia. In addition, they took courses to learn about the Batik business, maritime transportation, robotic technology and car development.
Impressed by the culture of Batik and the people who want to expand traditional Batik business to overseas, Pedal and Huanxia started to think over the situation in China. On our motherland, it is a pity to find that numerous excellent traditions are dying. ITS organized the participants to visit the small and medium enterprises which are producing traditional products and asked us to tell them our experiences in these shops and suggestions to increase the sales.
Besides, our participants were inspired by the passion of the volunteers of the committee in ITS and their management system. The committee was extremely helpful, full of passion and always smiling. The leader of ITS who was respectfully and kindly called ibe(which means Mom in English) Maria encouraged them to communicate with the participants instead of staying with the relatively familiar friends. She also asked them to record who they have made friends with, daily things they consider as interesting, whether replied to any emails and so forth in their diaries, which would be regarded as the contribution to ITS.
They had found that their culture are remarkably similar and at the meantime so different, making friendship with many foreign mates. After attending CommTECH 2014, they have a better idea of who they are and who they want to be. Sincerely, they want to thank Dr. Wong Ming Wong who seized this opportunity.
