At 7:30pm, Oct. 19, 2008, the second employment salon of Business School was held in room 202, E Teaching Building. The lecturer was Associate Professor XIE Wenli, ex-Manager of ministry of audit in PWC.
Associate professor XIE Wenli had graduated from Shantou University and University of Technology (Sydney) respectively, gained Bachelor of Economics and MBA. She had worked in Anita Cheung & Co Certificated Public Accounts Co. Ltd., and Astims Certificated Public Accounts Co. Ltd., which both were in Sydney, Australia, and PWC. She got CPA Australia in June, 2004, and HKICPA September, 2008.
The topic of this lecture was to introduce PWC, one of the top four Certificated Public Accounts Co. Ltd. in the world, and whose recruit requirement to college graduate and welfare and chance. In addition, she also shared her working experience in PWC and skill for interview.
Miss XIE highlighted that there was not only Accounting major to work in PWC, because there were affluent professional trainings for other majors to work there. Even if you had no accounting knowledge, you could make wonderful achievement after trainings. To make sure employees hading sufficient time to prepare exam, company had a test vacation for testees. The training course was explained by experienced manager. And the corporation would train every employee and fresh comer on the latest professional information, and all the employees would communicate with each other and learn many lecture skills. She also pointed out that the client in PWC were much difference, thus everyone could meet different people and multi-culture. There was an outstanding platform for every employee to communicate with clients. They could recognize their weakness in talking with customers.
In PWC, there was equal chance for everyone. The new comer would work from the bottom. He/she would promote to senior staffer in one to two years, Manager three to five years, Senior Manager five to twelve years, then to Partner.
When knowing many seniors missed to submit CV to PWC, She found principal in HR Department and hoped to delay to submit CV for graduates in STU. She also talked with students about interview and proposed many suggestions.
First, she argued that everyone should make full preparation before interview. You should know what the interviewer wants. Every interviewer should have certain English to pass test and following work. The clothes in interview were another importance. During the interview, you should express your strong interest in your engaged position and self-confidence which would leave deep impression in interviewer. In the discussion part, you should cooperate with others and let your partners express their opinions.
At the very ending, students asked questions actively. Miss XIE answered one by one completely.
