Re-launching Ceremony of Shantou University Southeast Asia Research Centre and National Symposium on "Southeast Asia in the Post-Epidemic Era" successfully held in Shantou University

On 21 November 2020, the relaunching ceremony of Shantou University Southeast Asia Research Centre and the "Southeast Asia in the Post-Epidemic Era" was hosted by the Southeast Asia Research Centre of Shantou University, the Department of Applied Economics of School of Business, and the Research Group of the National Social Science Foundation's major project on " Impact Research on the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road on the Security Pattern of Southeast Asia", and the Venue was the Seminar Room of School of Business.

Professor Li Baojun from the Renmin University, Professor Han Feng from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Wang Qin from the Southeast Asia Research Centre of Xiamen University, Professor Cao Yunhua from the Overseas Chinese Research Institute of Jinan University, Professor Gu Xiaosong from the Research Institute of Guangxi Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Zhu Zhenming from the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, President Lin Xiaobin from the Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Business Think Tank Research Institute and totally 40 scholars attended the symposium.

The re-launching ceremony of Shantou University Southeast Asia Research Centre was held in the morning of Nov. 21st. The re-launching ceremony was presided over by Prof. Li Song, Deputy Director of Research Department of Shantou University. Dean Lin Xiaobin and Professor Cao Yunhua delivered speeches at the inauguration ceremony.

The symposium were divided into three academic sessions, which were chaired by Professor Liu Peng, Associate Professor Tang Chong and Associate Professor Cheng Xiaoyong. Experts and scholars discussed topics such as the Southeast Asian economy in the post-epidemic era, ASEAN cooperation in response to the epidemic, and China-Southeast Asia relations.

At 5pm on the 21st, the symposium was successfully concluded. This was a large-scale academic exchange activity, through special reports and academic exchanges, which narrowed the distance between experts and peers, strengthened the communication and cooperation between universities, stimulate the research interests and explore a new chapter for the development of the Southeast Asia Research Centre.
