GMC—Business School Made a Decent Start

Time : 2009-03-04

Global Management Challenge (GMC) is the world's largest enterprise management simulation game across the five continents. It originated in Europe three decades ago and was carried out annually. Its purpose is to improve the global business management, promote the level of business simulation teaching in colleges and universities and enhance the standardization of enterprise management technology through the modernization of simulation training tools.

The 29th Global Management Challenge, namely the 13th GMC competition in Chinese Division (2008), carried out its first round during Oct. 17 – Nov. 3. This competition has attracted 944 teams from 86 colleges and universities all over the country. All the teams were divided into 118 groups with 8 teams in one group. Eliminated by the first round, 354 teams could continue to participate in the semi-final competition.

Organized by the Business School, 14 teams representing Shantou University were sent to compete in the GMC. After fierce competition, 9 teams were able to enter the semi-final, with a rate of 64% in all STU teams. This is the first time for Business School to take part in GMC competition, but we finally achieved excellent performance in the first round under the unremitting efforts of students
