On July 1st and 2nd 2008, Business School held the 14th Innovation & Development Strategy Seminar in Shantou CITICS Vacation Place. All the staff presented the seminar. Under the conception of “Managed by Professors”, Business School had a mission of cultivating management elite with the features of “Idea, Ethic, and Ability”. All the professors and staff contributed to discuss and improve all kinds of work in faculty, subject construction, organization frame, management system and project operation etc.
On the morning of July 1st, Prof Chen Motian, the General Secretary of Business School Branch, hosted the first meeting. Prof. Ou Yangfeng, Director of Undergraduates Program, and Su Bingtian who took charge of recruitment reported their work and proposed questions to discuss respectively. Prof. Ou Yangfeng summarized the work this semester and demonstrated that in next semester. He also pointed out that students’ abilities and comprehensive training were very crucial in their future and hoped that the School should invest more than ever in practical teaching and experimental teaching.
On the afternoon of July 1st, Prof. Ou Yangfeng hosted the 2nd meeting. Mr. Su Junzhi introduced the job-seeking situation of the undergraduates in 2008. He analyzed the data in recent years and showed that the increasing trend of high salary point ratio proved the achievement of our work on educating applied management talent. Prof. Zeng Fanqi reported periodical progress in SIFE project and planned their future work. Prof. Kong Ying reported the work of international communication, student exchange, Economic Forums, overseas recruitment and proposed future work. Mr. Chen Yinglin, Director of Business Administration Center, expatiated the plans for MBA Project Application and hoped to make bigger progress in MBA project.
On the morning of July 2nd, Prof. Lin Danming hosted the 3rd meeting. Mr. Hu Shaodong reported the work in recruitment of master students, Academic Forums, teaching & evaluating, student rewards, and extracurricular activities. Ms. Meng Fanchun reported the statistics of how many teachers joined academic conferences, and academic achievements. Mr. Chen Mingqin showed the construction, management and visiting data of Business School website.
Dean Xu made a sum-up for the seminar. Dean Xu appreciated what all the people have done in this semester and felt grateful for the issue in the seminar. She hoped every project team could keep passion and made all the work forward. She also shared her opinions about institution adjustment, subjects construction, teachers spirits etc. A lot of Doctors and professors home and abroad wanted to join Business School, especially those from English speaking countries. They would infuse new blood for Business School’s international construction and development.
This seminar explored teaching methods and ideas of internationalization, localization, specification and personalization for educating business talents in the globalization background. In the environment of sharing and jointly creating, Business School should pursuit her cultures and advance together with the time.
