On the 27th of Feb. Chang Wan Ying and Xu Jia Yi, two sophomores from the business school of STU, took part in the QCCC, pre-round of the 9th AIA Speech Contest in Hong Kong, as representatives of STU. There are more than 20 universities competing with the students, including Hong Kong University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Guangdong University of Foreign Study etc.
The Contest has three sections including a mandatory section, an English section and a Cantonese section, which test the contestants’ abilities of language use.
After the whole day of competition, Wang Shanshan, a student from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology got the championship. Lin Jiawei from Hong Kong University and Chen Lushi from Hong Kong City University got second-prize and third prize respectively.
The judgers of AIA emphasized that participants should considered themselves as communicators and they thought highly of our performance when we talked with them after the competition. They sincerely hoped that we could have greater performances next year.
