On December 9, 2023, the China-ASEAN 'Belt and Road' Ten-Year Academic Seminar and the Release of the 'Thailand Development Report (2022-2023)'' was held at Shantou University. The forum was organized by the Shantou 'Belt and Road' Technology Service and Innovation Research Institute and the Business School of Shantou University. Nearly 70 experts and scholars from home and abroad participated in the keynote speeches and panel discussions.
The conference was opened with remarks by Professor Liu Wenhua, Vice President of Shantou University, and Professor Liang Qiang, Dean of the Business School.
Professor Zheng Muqiang, Director of the Center for Southeast Asia Studies at Shantou University, introduced the main contents and subsequent research plans of the 'Thailand Development Report (2022-2023)'. Professor Gao Jian, Dean of the International School of Shantou University, presided over the opening ceremony. The Institute of Regional Country Studies and Overseas Chinese at Shantou University held its unveiling ceremony.
The establishment of the institute will integrate the university's resources to focus on research and think tank platform construction related to the 'Overseas Chinese' in countries along the 'Belt and Road', highlighting the humanities and social sciences' strengths and characteristics of Shantou University.
