Recently, the AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards Global Gala was held in London, United Kingdom, where Shantou University School of Business was honored with the Best CSR and Sustainability Initiative SILVER. This accolade marks the second time our school has received a global annual honor from the AMBA & BGA, following the Silver Award for Best Lifelong Learning Initiative in 2023.
Recognized as the "Oscars of Business Education," the AMBA&BGA Excellence Awards aim to acknowledge business schools worldwide for their exceptional impact, innovative quality, inclusive values, and social responsibility within high-quality business education. The 2024 AMBA&BGA Excellence Awards featured 11 categories of excellence, attracting entries from universities and colleges across China, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Italy, Ireland, Portugal, India, Egypt, Nigeria, and more. Our school took this award application seriously, showcasing our long-term strategic initiatives and rich achievements in promoting CSR and sustainable development. The selection process began in July 2023, with AMBA&BGA appointing an expert jury of 30 academicians and industry leaders. After the first round of review, two institutions from Mainland China made it to the final round, with Shantou University Business School ultimately winning the Silver Award for Best CSR and Sustainability Initiative for 2024.
At the awards ceremony in London, Professor Liang Qiang, the Dean of School of Business Shantou University, delivered a speech online. Dean Liang expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional contributions of AMBA&BGA to global business education and sustainable social development. He highlighted that since receiving the BGA Accreditation in March 2023, the school has rapidly established mechanisms for continuous improvement post-certification. The concepts of CSR and sustainable development within the BGA accreditation philosophy have formed a broad consensus in the school's top-level design. The school has integrated CSR and sustainability concepts into education, teaching, research and innovation, social services, and more, formulating a comprehensive, multi-level, and global sustainability strategy based on the school's actual situation and future strategic planning.
The award-winning project "Rural Revitalization Project," is a comprehensive and profound social practice project that demonstrates the School's commitment and actions towards practicing social responsibility and promoting sustainable development. Through organizing diversified projects such as farmer-assisting livestreams, service-oriented labor courses, rural practice activities, and public welfare activities, the school has not only brought tangible economic benefits to rural areas but also made positive contributions to promoting rural culture, education, and health development. The School of Business continues to make miracles in rural revitalization, supporting the sustained and healthy development of the economy and society.
Moving forward, the School of Business will continue to promote cooperation with international organizations, businesses, and communities, jointly exploring and innovating educational methods and models, tirelessly working to nurture talents with global perspectives and a sense of social responsibility, and contributing wisdom and strength to the practice of global business education.
