Introduction to School of Business
School of Business Shantou University is one of the earliest schools established by Shantou University. With the cultivation principle of "Spiration, Knowledge, Perseverance, Achievement", the school is committed to advancing with the times and develop global competence through education in contemporary business and society. With the mission of "educating tomorrow’s business managers with global perspectives, craftsmanship spirit, ability to innovate and willingness to take responsibility", the school practices the development strategy of "learning about local businesses and serving the immediate community; committed to globally recognised standard teaching and research; building on distinctive strengths; striving for first-class education.", and actively promotes and implements the "Artificial Intelligence and Big Data plus Programs" interdisciplinary talent training system. It has formed the school characteristics of interdisciplinary integration and focuses on the cultivation of integrated thinking, innovation and entrepreneurial capability.
School of Business has been selected as Guangdong Pilot School for Undergraduate Teaching Quality and Teaching Reform Engineering Construction, Pilot Site for Innovative Training of Economic Management Talents Based on Integrative Thinking and Provincial Practice Base for University Students. The school also owns Research Institute for Guangdong–Taiwan Business Cooperation of Shantou University, a provincial key base for humanities and social sciences research in universities, and Key Laboratory of Digital Management and Smart Governance in East Guangdong, a provincial key laboratory for philosophy and social sciences in universities, Guangdong Provincial University’s Characteristic and New Think Tank - Shantou University China-ASEAN Research Center. The School of Business currently owns 2 first-class postgraduate programs of Business Administration and Applied Economics, and 3 professional master degree programs in Business Administration (MBA), Master of Accountancy(MPAcc), Master of Engineering Management(MEM), 3 national, 2 provincial first-class undergraduate programs and 1 new program which we plan to enroll students in Fall 2025: Business Administration, Accounting, Marketing Management, International Economics & Trade, Finance and Digital Economy as following:

There are 96 faculty and staff in Business School, including 70 faculty (13 professors). To be specific, 97% of the faculty have doctoral degrees and 6% of them are from countries/regions outside the Chinese mainland. More than 64% of the faculty have overseas study and work experience. 40% of the faculty have been selected for the university's Outstanding Talent Plan.
School of Business promotes teaching reform and research and creates a number of high-level teaching achievements with demonstration and promotion value. Since 2018, faculty of the school, as the first completer, have won 1 National Teaching Achievement Award, 4 Guangdong Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards. The school also obtained 1 national first-class course, 11 provincial first-class courses and 1 provincial demonstration course.
School of Business has formed academic teams with distinctive directions such as Entrepreneurship & Innovation Management, Organization and Marketing Management, Accounting and Financial Management, Big Data and Supply Chain Management, Industrial Economics, etc. In the past three years, the school has published 189 academic papers, including 93 indexed in SCI/SSCI (2 of which are UTD24 journal papers) and 61 indexed in CSSCI. The school has also published 9 books, including 3 textbooks and 6 monographs/translations. Faculty members have undertaken 92 new projects, with a total funding of 10.4763 million yuan. Among these, 10 are national projects with funding of 3.969 million yuan, 43 are provincial projects with funding of 3.03 million yuan, 12 are municipal projects with funding of 714,000 yuan, and 24 are horizontal projects with funding of 2.7333 million yuan. Additionally, the school has received 3 provincial leadership instructions for policy advisory services.
In line with the trend of internationalization of business administration education, the school has accelerated its internationalization strategy and joined the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), Silk Road Entrepreneurship Education Network (SREEN), and has obtained the official membership of the Business Graduates Association (BGA), an international accrediting body for business education. In March 2023, School of Business has achieved accreditation from the Business Graduates Association (BGA) which demonstrates its positive impact on students and society, against independent international quality standards.
The school has also established partnerships with overseas institutions in the USA, Canada,Russia,UK,France,Ireland,New Zealand,Australia, Singapore, Thailand,South Korea,etc., sending students to study abroad every year and providing students with a unique international and local learning experience.
The graduates of the school are highly recognized by well-known enterprises at home and abroad, such as Bank of China, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Ping An Insurance Company of China, China Life Insurance Company, China Mobile, China Telecom, China Overseas, Country Garden, China Resources, Tencent, Suning, BYD, HSBC, P&G, Watson, Johnson&Johnson, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Luxottica. In recent years, more than 30% of the graduates have been employed by Fortune Global 500 Enterprises and Top 500 Chinese Enterprises. In 2023, a total of 52 students with a promotion rate of 16.77% were admitted by Sun Yat-sen University, Zhejiang University, Jinan University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, University of Macau, The University of Melbourne(Australia), The University of Sydney(Australia), University of Southampton(UK), University of Birmingham(UK), Universität Zürich(Switzerland), The University of Tokyo(Japan) and other well-known universities at home and abroad.
Under the support of government and leadership, Shantou University School of Business will continue to develop and make greater contributions to the harmonious development of China's society and economy, with the mission of “educating tomorrow’s business managers with global perspectives, craftsmanship spirit, ability to innovate and willingness to take responsibility”.
