On March 16th to 20th, 2011, the 22nd Scotiabank International Case Competition was held by Richard Ivey School of Business in Western Ontario University, Canada. It was sponsored by Scotiabank Group. Four third grade students, Aini Guan, Yirui Lan, Xiaohong Li, Xuebin Wang who are from STU Business School were selected to participate. Led by Dr. Yi Wang, the STU team competed intensely against 11 teams from United States, Singapore, Germany, Spain, Poland, Brazil, Mexico, New Zealand and Denmark.
STU team was in the same group with Georgetown University, National University of Singapore and Brazil FGV. Each team was required to raise practical recommendation via analyzing the material which is more than 200 pages with only two laptops in two days. Finally, Singapore Management University won the championship. During the feedback session after the competition, the recommendation and speech’s skill of STU team is praised by the judges, but the team still has to improve the ability of analysis. STU team and their advisor also deeply communicated with participants and hosts about case study, the ways of teaching and other fields.
