【About TUBC】
Thammasat Undergraduate Business Challenge (TUBC) Case Competition is held by by BBA Thailand's Thammasat University. It is one of the longest existing, world famous case competition, attracting students from America, Denmark, the Netherlands, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong and other 16 world's top business schools, this year four additional teams were added from the preliminary round of Thailand’s Political Science and Law University’s TUBC Challenger. Shantou University sent out Guo Ping (13 International Econ. And Trade), Hu Kaishan trade (13 International Econ. And Trade), Wang Xin (13 Business Admin.), Hu Minhui (14 Accounting) team name Alpha Consulting, as representatives to participate in this fierce competition.
【Video collection of Likes and Shares】
At the request of the organizers, the teams needed to make an introduction video and upload it to Facebook to collect likes and shares. The video with the most likes and shares will win the “most popular video award”. The team made a creative video, but facing the challenge of Facebook being blocked in China, we asked if we could use the Wechat platform instead to compete, they agreed. With the support of Shantou University student’s thumbs ups and shares, Shantou University won the “most popular video award “, receiving 4000 Thai Baht voucher by Hilton.
【 About the Competition 】
The team from Shantou university and had the opportunity to listen to the case company speech and accepted professional training from BCG consultants. After the draw, Shantou university, Singapore Management university (last year's winners), Nanyang technological university, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Thai national challenger of political science and law university was categorized in one team, facing the hardest TUBC case in a decade and strong opponents as well. With the pressure, Shantou University’s team gave their best and completed the task finishing with the taste of Shantou University, but sad to say we didn’t get in the finals.
【Social activities】
Shantou university attended all the activities hosted by the host. From welcome dinners, to the excursion day of exploring Bangkok to cruise and cocktail parties and other series of activities. Through the abundant of social activities, Shantou university students did not only explore Thailand but understand the culture as well. In addition, we had great interaction with other teams and advisors, leaving a deep impression of an enthusiastic, lively and fun team, changing their impression of Shantou University students.
【Thoughts of team】
First of all, we would like to thank Li ka-shing foundation and the business schools for this precious opportunities and strong support. Furthermore, thank you professor Wu Jing Qiang for mentoring and guiding us on cases. The case taught us the fundamental importance of teamwork and connect with talents from all over the world. We are aware of our shortcomings and see the potential of development that we can do in the future. The TUBC case competition did not only broadened our horizons but also deepened our understanding of our own field. This is the start for the pursuit of oneself.
