August 29th to September 5h 2010:
Ten outstanding business schools from New Zealand, Holland, Singapore, Australia and China arrived at Queenstown, New Zealand for the 2010 Student Development Society of New Zealand International Business Case Competition (SDS IBCC 2010).
Students were given 3 business cases, 5 hours to prepare for each case and 10 minutes to present their ideas to a panel of Judges. Teams tackled case studies on international and domestic businesses which included Michael Hill International, NZski and Queenstown Resort College. After the presentations, Judges would give each team feedbacks on what to improve in the future.
Four students from Shantou University Business School, whose names are Lingzhen Li, Aini Guan, Yining Luo, Jiayi Xu were chosen to participate in this competition coached by Prof King Wu and Prof Wenli Xie. The Team performed well and ranked 2nd in the first round, but failed to enter into the final. The winners of the competition were Waikato University (1st), Queensland University of Technology (2nd) and Nanyang University of Technology (3rd).
During the competition period, the team had thorough exchanges with teams from other countries, and the judges also spoke highly for their English communication skills and comprehensive quality. The competition experience will help them go further in the future international case competitions.
