Business school students participated in the 2016 AIBC international business case competition

From November 5, to November 11, 2016 Alberta International Business Competition was held in Alberta, Canada. Four students form business college formed Nestay Consulting, included Stefano Huang from 2013 International Economics and Trade, 2014 Business Administration students, Shirley Lin, Cecilia Chi and an accounting student Lynn Liao on behalf of Shantou University to participate in that competition. And engaged in a fierce rivalry with those competitors from the United States, Canada, Thailand, and Netherlands 11 top business schools.
In six days of activities and the competition, competitors are not only experienced intense business case competition, also took part in the rich and colorful social activities and gave out some souvenirs of Shantou university business school. Students the communicated and established a deep friendship with the other team ,and organizers, built a good contact with entrepreneurs represents, showed the vitality and passion of Shantou university students, highlights the Shantou university as a young university with confidence and vigor.

 

[Overview]
The Alberta International Business Competition 2016 for a period of six days, activities and competition schedule as well as personnel arrangements are all planed by University of Alberta’s students from different grades. The competition implemented the point redemption scheme, and including three rounds: in the first two rounds, twelve teams are drawn into three groups, At the end of round two, total of three teams which has highest point accumulated in the pool got qualify to enter Final round. Shantou University School and HEC Montreal、Northern Alberta Institute of Technology、University of Alberta divided into the same pool in the first round.  Although the judges affirmed the Shantou team creativity and give praise, but ultimately Shantou team unfortunately missed the semi-finals of the third round. After fierce competition, Thammasat University(Thailand) won the championship, University of California, University of South Carolina(America) got 1st runner up, University of Alberta(Canada) ranked the 2nd runner up.

[Social Activities]
AIBC case competition organizers provided interesting and abundant learning opportunities for all participants, so that students from different countries had plentiful communities and learnt from each other in various social activities, got the chance to broaden horizons Organizers arranged a variety of social activities, including a cocktail party, group skit song, amazing race and so on. During participating in these activities, the representatives from business school actively exchange ideas with other participants, showing the positive spirit of students from Shantou University business school.

In just six days in Canada, the players realized the importance of English expression. After the game, they exchanged opinions with the judges and other team players, gained the improved opinions and valuable experience, and promoted the team members' simulation of business environment, decision-making and perception ability. Also had a more in-depth pick up in case studies and program development. Our team established a profound friendship with the other team, broaden the international perspective, improved social skills. This special experience will  have a positive impact to our future development.
The team members harvested deeply from AIBC 2016 international business competition, enhance our comprehensive quality ability from different aspects, which depends on King WU’s support, encouragement and guidance, and also thank Shantou University Business School and Li Ka Shing Foundation for providing opportunity.
