The 1st Chaoshan Merchants Forum of 2011 was held on 17th April. Co-organized by the Business School and MBA Education Centre, the forum is dedicated to promote the embedded values and virtues of Chaoshan merchants. Mr Li Wenhai, Vice President of CP Group, attended the forum upon invitation and delivered a lecture. Professor Xu Zongling, Dean of the Business School, chaired the forum. Attendees include faculties and staffs from the School and the Centre.
Apart from being the VP of CP Group, Mr Li is also the Vice Chairman and Executive VP of CP's public-listed subsidary in Hong Kong, and Chairman of Lotus Supermarket in Guangzhou. Being a business man fascinated by Chinese calligraphy and painting, Li was able to gradually complete his own philosophy for life: Vacancy. 'A house need to be vacant before people can move in, and a cup need to be vacant before water can fill it up', said Li, 'one need to clear his or her mind so he or she can learn new findings'. His campaign the 'pink spring' has been working in conjunction with government departments since its launch in 2008. The campaign, on top of its primary concern on women health and rights, has received positive feedback from communities.
After the splendid lecture, Li was appointed as a guest lecturer to the Business School.
