This summer I traveled to Canada to attend the International Summer Institute of Business Management courses (ISIBM) hold by University of Victoria,ca. Thanks for University of Shantou to provide me this good opportunities to experience foreign teachings and exotic culture.
University of Victoria(Uvic) is one of the Canada's best comprehensive university, founded in 1963, located in Victoria, the capital city in the province of British Columbia.It has enjoyed a high reputation in North America and around the world and has been widely recognized with its beautiful learning environment, first-class research and inspired teaching style. ISIBM has a 16-year-old business management course experience in University of Victoria. Since the project has been launched, the program has recruited more than 3000 students from all over the world. ISIBM not only can enrich the students' summer life, but also provides the students with an international study and life process. The course of ISIBM includes Business Communication, Entrepreneurship, Service Management, International Business and aims at improving the students' ability to communicate and work in international context during one-month course. The professors are all from the business school of Uvic who have rich experience in teaching and lively teaching style; students are from all over the world including Austria, Germany, Mexico, who have different cultural background. Everyone learns from each other in the multimedia teaching, case discussion, class interaction.
I want to talk about my feeling about the University of Victoria.Uvic is a quiet, classical, and open-mind school. The buildings on the campus are classical, there are full of trees and green space, giving people a sense of isolation like entering into "the Peach Garden". However, the people who shuttle across campus are different-look students from all over the world, or thinking or discussing or doing sports, showing a kind of harmonious and vibrant scene. The lifestyle here is different from home and full of fresh feeling. Here the water could be drink directly , the grass could be walk on, deer, squirrel appears sometimes. The restaurants only serve fast food, the most common food are hamburgers and pizza, but the taste is really great. Rice can not be eaten, but the coffee is indispensable. The local people drink coffee just like drinking water. In the summer of it isn’t dark until 10 pm, so people love outdoor activities,.Even at noon you can find some people running. In short, you will be immersed in a totally different kind of life.
Victoria City is a beautiful and friendly coastal city, renowned as one of the world's ten largest tourist city. ISIBM provides students rich and colorful extracurricular activities such as around-island tour, whale show, hiking in the forest, night club , park visit, firework show and so on. Victoria is famous for its advantageous natural conditions so the plants, flowers, fruits are very good here. There is a primitive forest next to the school, the local people love spending their time there. Of course, you can also make your own trip. You can visit the cultural monuments,experiencing the history and culture of Canada when visiting the parliament building, Queens Hotel, all kinds of museums. You can also enjoy the natural scenery, walking through the forest, boating on the sea as you choose. Finally, the most exciting thing is shopping.Victoria downtown is the most popular shopping district where are fancy restaurants,diners and pubs, shopping malls and supermarkets with good quality and a wide selections.3-hour-trip far away from Victoria is the famous Vancouver City. The two cities are totally different styles, compared to Victoria's petty bourgeoisie, Vancouver is a busy international metropolis. ISIBM will deliberately save time so that students can visit other cities.
If there is a chance, we really should go abroad to have a look, just like ISIBM's slogan says, the world is different here. You deserve it.
