Under the strong support of Li Ka Shing Foundation and STU leadership, Professor Shlomo Maital was invited to hold a lunch talk for Business School lecturers on May 9, 2014. The title of his talk was ‘Can entrepreneurship be taught?’. Our Dean Lu Yuan facilitated the talk.
Professor Maital, centering on the topic of ‘Can entrepreneurship be taught?’, used the analysis and comparison of China-Israel relations to illustrate that entrepreneurship is driven by culture and that the entrepreneur needs to have the ethnic culture as a strong foundation. He also talked about the ten practices in entrepreneurship education at Technion Israel Institute of Technology.
At the end of the interesting talk, Professor Lin Danming, on behalf of the school, presented Professor Maital with STU Business School award of appointment of honorary professor. During the lunch, Professor Maital had a deeply engaging discussion with the Business School lecturers on innovative teaching methods.
Professor Maital is a world renowned scholar in innovation and a senior researcher in the Samuel Neaman Institute for Advanced Studies in Science and Technology within Technion Israel Institute of Technology. He was the Academic Director in Technion and is a regular visiting professor in Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). During his recent visit to STU, Professor Maital conducted the Value-Based Innovation Course, a highly well-received course that he has been teaching for the last 20 years in MIT.
