The 2010 Welcome Show for Freshmen was held on the evening of 15th October. Organized by the Youth League Committee and Shantou University Business School, the Show was held to welcome the new undergraduates to the School. Dean Xu Zongling, Professor Xu Erming, Secretary Li Yue and Vice Secretary Chen Yinlin of Party General Branch, Associate Professor Chen Motian and other staff attended the Show. Chiefs of Students Affairs Division Mr. Yu Hong and Mr. Su Junzhi, chiefs of Shantou Working Bureau of Finance, military training instructors and other guests were also invited. It was fortunate that some School fellows eventually made their way to the Show despite the long journey from distant provinces.
The Show was hosted by specially invited comperes Mr Zeng Rui and Ms Cui Weiwei.
In correspondence to the theme of ‘Milky way of the School’, the custom made decorating lights and pinky balloons were shaped as stars along the hallway of the Assembly Hall. Audience to the Show was estimated to be more than 2000, literally left no vacant seats for those arrived late.
The Show comprised of a number of performances prepared and performed by students, staff and military training instructors. Both the performers and the audiences enjoyed the Show under a thoroughly delightful atmosphere.
In the final chapter of the Show, the graduating students of 2007 classes chorused the song ‘fly with confidence’, marking a conclusion to their days in Shantou University and thanking the School for the education.
