On the afternoon of 19th October, Business School held a conference regarding future employment for students graduating in 2011.Vice Secretary of Business School CPC general branch Mr. Chen Yinglin and grade 2007 class advisor Ms. Su Bingtian attended and gave speeches at the conference in the company of grade 2007 and 2008 students.
Mr. Chen started his speech by reporting the statistical data of grade 2006 graduates’ employment status. Following the report, Mr. Chen shared his experience and hints for interviews with the attendees. His lecture of ‘the first step in a career’ provided techniques and advices for students in coping with the new challenges in their lives, such as learning how to get along with people in work place and in society. He pointed out that a graduate is merely an inexperienced rookie with a freshly printed certificate. Employers are not looking for employees solely according to degrees and majors, but rather they are seeking for those who are keen of continuous learning. Therefore, he concluded, students will have to keep looking for learning and practice opportunities in order to enhance capabilities in as many spheres as possible.
In the summary session, Ms. Su advised the students to assess their individual strength and weakness. A fair evaluation of self capabilities, according to Ms. Su, is beneficial to selecting the right career path. In comparison, setting unattainable goals while being sluggish in enhancing self capabilities often lead to failures.
According to some attendees, the conference was instructive. In the end of the conference, tasks to be finalized were distributed to responsible units by class council member Peng Na.
