Dean Lu’s Shenzhen Visit to Explore Internship Opportunities for STU Students

On July 23, 2014, STU Business School Dean Lu Yuan with staff members, Su Bing Tian, and Cui Wei Wei,accompanied 2012 Accountancy major student, Weng Xi Bo, and 2013 Finance major student, Lin Ze Lan, on a visit to Mr Yao Jun, the company supervisor of Shenzhen China Merchants Securities Research and Development Center in Shenzhen.
 
That afternoon, Dean Lu and company received a warm welcome from the Vice-President, Ding An Hua.  During the meeting, Dean Lu gave a brief introduction of the current development and future direction of STU Business School, and hoped that Shenzhen China Merchants Securities can offer more internship and employment opportunities to STU students.  They also discussed in great detail on how STU can train students to better adapt to employment needs and requirements so that they can adopt a broader mindset.  Dean Lu cordially invited VP Ding to visit Shantou University and the latter readily agreed.  Mr Yao Jun presented to the two students the latest developments and concepts of the securities industry.  He also gave them a project assignment through which they can gain new knowledge.      
 
Later in the afternoon, Dean Lu and team went to meet with several STU alumni students for a discussion at Shenzhen Big Eyes International Travel Service Co, set up by a Year 2000 Business Management major student, Lin Ze Lian.  Dean Lu presented to the alumni the new developments at STU and emphasized the importance of opportunities for future collaborations with Technion Israel Institute of Technology to bring about high quality course curriculum for pioneering and innovative learning, develop online education, strengthen classroom teaching and raise the standard of mathematics.  He hoped to receive the support of the alumni in the development and growth of STU and Business School as well as increase mutual collaboration.  Every alumni member present expressed appreciation to the Dean and his team for the update and guidance brought through their visit.  It is an indication of the affiliation and loyalty that the alumni maintains for STU and the Business School, which hopefully will translate into more internship and employment opportunities for the future.
 
This Shenzhen visit not only created an excellent internship platform, expanded students’ horizon and built a bridge for continuing alumni connection, but also set up a strong foundation for a future internship base for Business School students.
