On the afternoon of Nov. 11, one of the 1st Yuedong Overseas Chinese Exposition activities—“Cooperation by honor, Prosperity by all-- 2008 Chaoshan Development Forum” was held in science hall. Prof. Gu Peihua, executive headmaster of Shantou University, hosted the forum. Guests from home and abroad, leaders and delegates from Shantou, Shanwei, Chaozhou, Jieyang, and teachers and students from Shantou University were present. Prof. XU Zongling, Dean of Business School, made speech on the forum.
During the meeting, Mr. Chen Weinan, President of Hong Kong Chaoshan Community Chamber, made first speech. He introduced struggling history of overseas Chinese, and hoped the young generation to be sciential people. Prof. Zheng Chuxuan, Deputy Dean of Guangdong Administration College, Prof. Wang Jun, Dean of Social Science Academe of Sun Yat-Sen University, Prof. Lin Lunlun, Deputy Headmaster of Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University, Prof. Zhong Jian, Director of China Special Economy Zone Research Center of Shenzhen University, Prof. XU Zongling, Dean of Business School of Shantou University, made excellent speeches respectively.
Dean XU made “the position of Shantou in Guangdong area economy and the development strategy of Shantou” speech. She introduced her research production and policy suggestion to economy development of Shantou. She also pointed out the existed problem of Shantou economy growth from the compare of horizontal and vertical views, restructured index for weigh difference of region economy, analyzed the four grads structure of Guangdong economy development, and argued that Shantou should develop industrial cluster fast, push Chaoshan economy and the development of social affairs completely.
The forum brought heavy reaction between teachers and students. Scholars gave audience wonderful speech and smart answer.
