At 3:00 p.m. on April 26, 2009, the Business School Student Union held a seminar on CPA and GMC in E201. NING Kechun, REN Zelin, HUANG Qi shared their stories behind CPA and GMC in details.
Accounting &CPA
The first speaker is NING Kechun, a 05 Grade Business School student majoring in Accounting who won the AIA scholarship. He said something about the meaning of CPA, the current situations of CPA, the reasons for applying it and the style of the test. Also he shared his experience in preparing the CPA.
NING Kechun raised four grounds for applying CPA Examination. First, you will have the right to sign if you passed CPA because CPA is credential in auditing industry. Second, you can learn more knowledge during prepare the CPA. Third, CPA will give you better working opportunity. Forth, you will have to pass only 9 exams to pass the ACCA if you have passed the CPA compared to 14 exams if you haven’t passed the CPA. After that, he analyzed the new CPA exam.
In the interactive question-and-answer session, NING Kechun thought that if you wanted to work after graduation especially wanted to engage in the work of the accounting firms, you should have to pass CPA. If you wanted to get further education, there was no need to take this exam because you can pass it in your graduate spare time. He thought that if you had interest in CPA, you may prepare it in your first university year with somebody who also interested in CPA. He also suggested that you should pass Economic Law first. Business management &GMC
And then, REN Zelin, HUANG Qi shared their experience of participating in GMC.
GMC, the full name of Global Management Challenge, the International Challenge of enterprise management, is an enterprise management simulation game in five continents across the global which is certificated by European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).of the official five enterprise management simulation game.
First of all, REN Zelin systematically analyzed the GMC tournament in China, as well as the achievements. Then, Ren Zelin encouraged students to participate in GMC competitions, especially the students of Business Administration. He also said some benefits from GMC: you can exercise the professional knowledge and improve the quality of their psychology and the honor from GMC can benefit your coming career.
Ren Zelin has always stressed discipline and the powers and responsibilities that you should be at the meeting on time, the results of the work should be submitted on time and you should have the courage to take responsibility.
Next, Huang Qi introduced the situation from STU attending GMC. He said we learned our experiences from Zhongshan University and our team got many supports from STU Foundation. We achieved good results even if we lacked experiences. The secret to the success was persistence and we should learn knowledge first and take part in this game in you second or third year.
The lecture closed in a warm round of applause and students learned a lot from it.
