In the afternoon of November 15, 2008, sign language training activities drew a successful conclusion in the E- stage 201, which was organized by Business School Youth Volunteers Association of (BSYVA). Thus, the current sign language training activities lasted nearly a month from the preparation, propaganda to the end.
On the eve of the training, BSYVA attracted lots of students who were interested in sign language through propagandizing in the second canteen, the fourth canteen and the campus. At 3:00 pm November 15, training courses began officially accompanied by harmony music. The classroom was full of students and the atmosphere was warm.
Before the course, the leader of BSYVA and a member of the North Star Volunteer Team told students something about their feelings and thinking when they visited the School for the deaf-and-dumb at the scene, which aroused students’ feeling strongly. Then it was time for the training. Teachers who were hired from the School for the deaf-and-dumb gave students a vivid and patient class. Because of the high enthusiasm of the students, the class was so active. After the class, BSYVA arranged a game section for all participants. It not only tested the effectiveness of this training, but also encouraged and showed thank you to the students who were enthusiastic at sigh language. The result of the game reflected that the effect of this training was pretty good. A great number of students learned a lot during this training activity.
The training activity provided a platform for students to know about sign language as well as the world of the deaf-and-dumb people. What’s more, it helped students to realize the deeper sense of social responsibility in the process of learning and play, and enhanced the care and understanding of disadvantaged groups.
