The 8th Academic Seminar of Shantou University Business School was held on 15th November in the Academic Conference Centre. Dr Feng Xunan (Post Doctor) from College of Business, City University of Hong Kong, was invited to be the guest lecturer. The seminar was chaired by Associate Professor Du Mian from STU Business School.
Doctor Feng started by introducing to the attendees his recent research on the relationship between political participation and development of the private sector. The importance of public-business relations was examined in addressing the reasons for conducting such research. He then presented his arguments in the political participation, IPOs and the associated underpricing, and profitability of the private sector to conclude that political participation can bring both tangible and intangible benefits to private businesses.
Doctor Feng’s lecture offered some brand new perspectives which are also in accordance with the current trends. Interactions were encouraged throughout the discussion session.
The seminar concluded with a harmonizing atmosphere.
