Business School Holds "STU MBA Teaching Workshop"

       In order to increase the teaching experience of Shantou University MBA faculty, improve their teaching level, and to promote the development of the MBA program, the STU Business School and MBA Education Centre co-hosted the "MBA Teaching Exchange Workshop" at ACC on March 27th. The four keynote speakers—Professor Lü Yuan and Huang Chisen from Chinese University of Hong Kong, Professor Cai Shuheng from Shanghai China Europe International Business School and Professor Xu Erming from Renmin University of China shared their valuable experience and talked with the entire Business School faculty.

      Professor Xu Zongling, Dean of Shantou University Business School, opened the ceremonies with a welcoming address. She expressed her thanks to the guests for coming to sharing their valuable experience. Professor Xu Erming spoke on “Development Ideas of Chinese Professional Degree". He highlighted the key points of the twenty-seventh session of the Academic Degrees Committee and talked about his extensive teaching experience in the MBA program. He also compared design and advantages and disadvantages of the MBA program at many well known universities. His speech was humorous but significant, concise but detailed, and was very well received.

      Professor Lü Yuan has been engaged in MBA and EMBA education for many years. In his speech, he shared his views on course design, teaching arrangements and student exchange. His words were simple but profound. He invited comments from the teachers to bring out bits of wisdom.

      Professor Huang Chisen spoke about "MBA Teaching Experiences and Situational Teaching Characteristics". Beginning with a series of incentive theories, he cited many examples of MBA teaching, and showed how to combine theory and practice.

      In the evening, Professor Cai Shuheng shared his extensive MBA case teaching experience with the faculty by focusing on "how to conduct case studies in MBA and EMBA teaching". He talked about the preparation, potential problems, as well as countermeasures and applicability of case selection in case teaching. He also exchanged ideas with the teachers.

       Vice Dean Ouyang Feng of Business School concluded the event. After wrapping up the highlights of the talks given by the previous four speakers', he stressed the importance of strengthening MBA teaching and expressed his hope for improved quality of MBA education through this workshop.
