School of Business Lecture Competition for New Teachers of 2021-2022 was Held Successfully

In order to further enhance the teaching ability and teaching skills of new teachers in the School of Business, the School held a lecture competition for new teachers in the 2021-2022 in the afternoon of June 8. A total of seven teachers participated in this event, namely Ruonan Fang, Zhilin Huang and Xiaorui Piao from the Department of Applied Economics, Zhilin Huang, Ran Duan and Kang He from the Department of Accounting and Finance, and Likai Zou from the Department of Business Management. The competition was judged by three teachers, namely Yue'e Long, Muqiang Zheng and Gongxing Guo.

 

At the beginning of the competition, Yue'e Long, Vice Dean and in charge of teaching affairs of Business School, delivered a speech. She indicated that Business School attaches great importance to the development of young teachers and has taken many measures to help them grow better. She hoped that teachers would strengthen communication with each other, consolidate their basic teaching skills, actively explore teaching innovation, and improve teaching quality and classroom teaching effect. At the same time, she encouraged teachers to adhere to the original aspiration of teaching, stick to the mission of establishing moral education, be a good "guide" for students' healthy physical and mental growth, and gain more happiness and sense of achievement in the work of education.

The competition took the form of "lecture + defence". In the lecture session, the participating teachers, based on the content and characteristics of the course they taught, elaborated in detail on the teaching philosophy, selection of teaching materials, analysis of the learning situation and course thinking, which fully demonstrating their solid skills, rigorous teaching attitude and clear way of thinking.

The defense section was conducted in the form of questions from the judges and answers from the participating teachers. The judges exchanged in-depth views with the participating teachers and gave precise comments on the content of their lecture presentations. The judges provided useful suggestions on the implantation of the ideological elements in the course teaching, the assessment and evaluation of students and classroom management.

Finally, Vice Dean Yue'e Long summarized the event and shared her teaching insights with the teachers present. She stated that a teacher's solid academic knowledge, loving heart and skilful parenting skills are the three traits in teaching. She stressed that moral education should awaken students' souls and hearts; teachers need to think systematically in teaching the curriculum, help students to establish connections between courses, chapters and knowledge points, and to sort out the underlying logic behind the knowledge points, as well as using a variety of teaching strategies to engage students in the classroom.


The first prize was awarded to Duan Ran, the second prize to Zhilin Huang and Likai Zou, and the third prize to Kang He, Xiaorui Piao, Ruonan Fang and Zhilin Huang.

Great oaks from little acorns grow. New teachers' lecture competition provided a platform for new teachers to display their teaching style, which helped to promote teaching work and laid a solid foundation for building a professional teaching team with high quality, sentiment, rigorous teaching and excellent business.
