The first critical thinking seminar, held as an academic response to the requirements of the National Education Department, was held between 28th May and 10th June at Huazhong University of Science. A number of Education Department organs and tertiary institutions as well as some publishing outlets co-organized the event.
Professor Ta Kun of STU Business School attended the event upon invitation.
In short, critical thinking is a theory which combines the evaluation, comparison, analysis, criticism and integration of information. The theory was developed in the hope to encourage undergraduates' abilities to distinguish, doubt and create.
Professor David Hitchcock from McMaster University, Canada, and Dr Dong Min were invited to the seminar to share their research findings and experiences in promoting the theory of critical thinking.
