In the 2023 National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition, the Guangdong Provincial round featured 106 universities with a total of 6483 participating teams 19326 students. The School of Business entered a total of 31 teams in this competition, with 26 of them achieving awards, resulting in an impressive 84% success rate. The awards included one National Level First Prize (pending review), five First Prizes from Guangdong Province, four Second Prizes from Guangdong Province, ten Third Prizes from Guangdong Province, and seven Excellent Awards from Guangdong Province. Among these, the team composed of students You Jicong, Wang Shengkai, and Deng Jinrong (supervised by Professor Liu Jiubing) was awarded the National Level First Prize (pending review).
Throughout the competition, the students showcased excellent mathematical literacy and teamwork spirit. They not only improved their mathematical modeling skills but also honed their ability to write academic papers. Over the years, the school's participating students have been enthusiastic and have achieved remarkable results, demonstrating their solid foundational knowledge, innovative thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
