The first International Cooperation Class, International Business, hosted by Shantou University and Canadian University of Calgary has started from the 12th week this semester.
The exchange program of Canadian University of Calgary aims at cultivating the person with international sight and innovation ability. The class, International Business, is taught by Prof. Yin who is from Business School and Dr. Ryan B. Lee from University of Calgary. Later March, the class was open to all the students of Shantou University registered in 2004, 2005 and 2006. The students had much interest in this class and paid much attention to it. After selection, seventeen students from Shantou University would join the class, of whom there were ten students from Business School.
On May 11, Dr. Ryan B. Lee and 13 students from Canadian University of Calgary arrived at Shantou University. At 2:30 pm on May 13, all the students of International Business class went to the meeting room in Science building of Medical Collage and listened to the introduction reported by Ms. Frieda Law, the advisor of Shantou Assisting Penury Program by Medical College of Shantou University and Li Ka Shing Foundation. At four o’clock, they visited the Joint Shantou International Eye Center. On the morning of May 14, 30 students from Shantou University and University of Calgary got together in Room 404 of G-Teaching Building and would study for one month. The first class was Risk Management by Dr. Ryan Lee. At the beginning, all the students made a brief self-introduction. To improve the communication between the students of Shantou University and University of Calgary, the class would adopt the way of sitting by group, in which a studying group consists of three Chinese students and two Canadian ones. “The Canadian students are active and express themselves positively in class.” Zhou Xiaoying from Business School said her impression after the first class. On May 15 and 16, Prof. Yin and Ryan Lee brought the students to visit the International Toys and Gifts Exhibition Center in Huawei Toys company and Qunxing Toys company in Chenghai, which aims to let the students understand the whole process from researching and development to sale for a product and the contents of Quality Control and Enterprise Management.
