The 6th Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS) annual meeting was held at Keio University in Japan on 28th and 29th October. Associate Professor Kong Ying from Shantou University Business School attended the meeting upon invitation,with delegates from over 40 business schools and international educational institutions across the region. Professor Atsushi Seike, the president of Keio University, and Mr Bernard Yeung, dean of National University of Singapore Business School, addressed speeches in the opening ceremony. Other organizations participated in the meeting include Japan University Accreditation Association, European Foundation for Management Development and The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
In addressing the main theme of the meeting, the strategic change for sustainable management, discussions were focused on issues regarding Asian-Pacific business schools’ response to the globalization of regional economy, the sustainable development of Asian economy and the influences that international accreditation may have on the development of business schools in the region.
Associate Professor Kong communicated and discussed with some representatives and deans the possibility of more comprehensive areas and methods of collaboration among respective schools, as well as matters concerning international accreditation. She also talked with Mr Eric Cornuel, the CEO of EFMD, and Professor Jim Herbolich, the Deputy General Director of EFMD, regarding EPAS accreditation, among other matters.
The AAPBS is a regional, not-for-profit association for management institutions. Founded in 2004, the organization now comprises134 institutions. Its primary objective is to enhance the communication and collaboration among members in the efforts of promoting the quality of management education in Asia-Pacific region, while endeavor to cultivate elites in the field of management.
