A team of 12 comprised of students from the Business School visited Bangalore, India for the 2010 BRICS Students Meet between 24th and 28th November.
The trip to India was short yet memorable to the team members. The somewhat mysterious veil of the neighbouring country was gradually lifted by the combination of the traditional clothing, the local scenic sites and the unique charms of the culture.
A wide range of activities were arranged for a tight 2-day schedule, including Management Games, Business Quiz and Speech Competition. The Management Game session was designed to develop students’ abilities to control costs by analyzing supply chain strategies. The Business Quiz, in comparison, covered surprisingly extensive topics ranging from the history of renowned brands to the stories of successful business figures. Despite the vast variety of questions, team STU ended up in the second place in the Quiz. Another distinctive session of the event was the speech competition, which required students to present their arguments on the achievements and disappointments of the Copenhagen Climate Conference.
Passion was culminated in the evening when students from across the globe brought to the audiences the featured cultural shows, which also revealed the harmonization of ethnicity and cultures, both on the stage and among the audiences.
The friendliness, passion and rusticity of the local people had impressed the students of Shantou University, making their short stay in Bangalore a pleasant yet memorable one.
