Business School Participated ABCC 2010

The Asian Business Case Competition (ABCC) 2010 is an international business case competition for undergraduate students. Hosted by the Nanyang Technological University, the ABCC is the only case competition that emphasizes corporate strategies for sustainable development. The competition provides great opportunity for students from globally well reputated business schools to utilize their business knowledge and ability to analyze realistic business problems. A round table discussion was held during the competition. Experts from various industries and leaders from business organizations joined the discussion session with the competing teams to address problems in sustainable development in the business world.
 
Hosted for the fourth time, University of Southern California took the first place last year. Shantou University Business School was invited to the competition this year. A team comprising of Zeng Jiahui, Lan Yirui, Wu Yanping, Zheng Zhenjie was selected to represent the university, with Professor Tan Kun being the faculty advisor. In the preliminary round in September, Team STU successfully outperformed the competitors to join the other finalists to the semi-final, including Hong Kong Baptist University, Auckland University of Technology, University of Porto, University of Otago, McGill University, Maastricht University, Thammasat University, and Nanyang Technological University.
 
Team STU received complements from the judges for their analyzing ability during the competition. The committee as well as the other participants highly recommended the team's performance, particularly in the video competition. The hosting universities of next  competition, Maastricht University and University of Porto, invited Shantou University for participation in 2011. By taking part in the ABCC, STU team members gained valuable experience in business case competition as well as skills in case analysis and communicating with people with different cultural backgrounds . In addition to the competitive dimension, the friendship with other universities and their business schools was also deepened.
 
Maastricht University (Netherlands) won the first place of the competition this year.
