The regional final of the South China Division of 2010 CIMA Global Business Challenge was held in Ji Nan University on 9th December. Among the some two hundred teams participated, Shantou University, Sun Yet San University, Xiamen University, Hunan University made it through to the regional final after series of intensive contests.
The competition required participating team members to play the roles of consultant and management accountant in an analysis for a simulative British company which is seeking to steer its operation from TV program production to TV and radio broadcasting. Members of the judging group include Dr Aidan Goddard, the Asia-Pacific Regional COO and CFO of L'occitane, Mr Gareth Cook, Financial Supervisor of Pegler Yorkshire (Jiangmen), etc.
A team consisting of 5 members, led by faculty advisors Professor Xie Wenli and Professor Tan Kun, was sent to represent STU Business School in the competition. Dr Goddard complemented Team STU members on their efforts in producing a reasonable and practical analysis.
The place to the National Final was won by Guangdong University of Foreign Studies.
