Postgraduates Participated in Thailand's GNVPC
A team comprised of Business School students WENJUN LI, HAIQINQ QIU, YAWEN JIANG, WEN XU and KE WANG, participated in the semi-final of The Mai Bangkok Business Challenge @ Sasin 2011. Led by Professor Wenli Xie, the team joined with the other 15 contestants from 13 countries and regions, including the US, France, Canada, to compete for the HM The King of Thailand's Award.
Initiated and organized by Chulalongkorn University- one of Thailand’s most well known universities, the competition aimed to attract the participation of business schools and their postgraduates in Asia-Pacific region. After a series of competition with 66 teams from 54 universities all around the world, Targicell successfully advanced to the semi-final, which made them the youngest among the 16 semi finalists.
The 3-day competition was full of fierceand excitement. On February 24th, each team gave their speech during the "Kiatnakin Bank 99-Second Pitch". The humorous interaction between WENJUN LI and the host during the interview links made the atmosphere exceptionally active. In the final day’s competition, Targicell was drawn in the same group of teams from South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan. However, due to the lack of experience in international competition, the team did not perform well in the Q&A session. Although the team failed to further advance, the creativity and intelligence it showed were witnessed by the judges and other teams.
This international venture plan challenge is not merely aiming to broaden the international vision of students, but also to strengthen communication between STU business school and other institutions around the world. On top of that, the reputation of STU Business School can also be promoted by taking part in events like this. Both teachers and students can expect to gain from the challenge, particularly the students—the ability to prepare projects and to present ideas before audiences. Last but not least, their English can be improved.
