On Dec. 15-16, 2008, the 5th Hong Kong Economics Even Annual Meeting was held in Southwest Jiao Tong University. This even annual meeting was first held in mainland, which was co-hosted by Hong Kong Economic Association and Southwest Jiao Tong University. Also the Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Lingnan University, the University of Hong Kong and China Dong Fang Electric Group Company assisted to hold this meeting. The topic of this meeting was globalization and economic tranquilization. More than 250 delegates from USA, UK, Japan, Korea, Sweden and other countries and regions, were present.
In the morning of Dec 15, this conference opened. Prof. James Mirrlees, the gainer of the Nobel Economics Prize 1996, Prof. Zhang Junsen from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Chairman of Hong Kong Economic Association, and other editor-in-chief of Journal of Political Economy, Review of Economics and Statistics, Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Development Economics, Pacific Economic Review, China Social Science, Economic Research Journal, and Management World attended this conference.
During two-day meeting, six topic speech and 61 discussions were held. The topic included Economic Analysis of Global Climate Change by Prof. James Mirrlees, Private Equity and Employment by Prof. Steven J. Davis from the University of Chicago, editor-in-chief of American Economic Journal, Climate Change、Death Rate and Reaction Measure by America and India by Prof. Mike? Greenstone from MIT, Editor-in-chief of Review of Economic Studies, Afford Prompting to Teachers by Prof. Rick Nell from the University of Chicago, Editor-in-chief of Journal of Political Economy and others.
Collusion with correlated demand produced by Prof. Yao Hongxin and Prof. Xu Zongling, from Business School, was selected into this conference. Prof. Yao Hongxin read this paper in session 1 of Industrial Organization Theory Branch. Scholars from home and abroad commented this paper and proposed some valuable suggestions.
